Cricket's three formats and major tournaments

Cricket is Bangladesh's most popular sport, and at bet vasa you can bet on all three main formats. Each format plays differently, so the betting approach is different too.

T20 is the fastest format — a match ends in just 20 overs. Big hits, quick wickets and a result within a few hours — markets move fast in this format. BPL and IPL are the T20 tournaments Bangladeshi fans know best, and the T20 World Cup brings fresh excitement every time.

ODI format teams play 50 overs. Mid-innings momentum, partnerships and bowling changes all play an important role here. ODIs are played at the ICC Cricket World Cup and in bilateral series. Bangladesh Tigers matches are especially popular in this format.

Test cricket is the longest format — it can run up to five days. Pitch conditions, weather and team consistency need to be considered before placing a bet. Markets move slowly, but each session brings new opportunities.

Alongside cricket, you can also bet on football and other sports at bet vasa. Football markets tend to stay relatively stable over a 90-minute match, whereas in cricket a single wicket or a big over can change a market in an instant. If you are also interested in casino games, you can find details on live table games at bet vasa casino.

Formats at a glance

  • T20 — 20 overs, BPL, IPL, T20 World Cup
  • ODI — 50 overs, ICC World Cup, bilateral series
  • Test — five days, series between top Test teams
  • Football — 90 minutes, domestic and international

Popular betting markets and how to bet

At bet vasa, cricket matches offer a range of different markets. Here is a simple explanation of how each market works.

Match Winner

Bet on which of the two teams will win. There is no draw in T20, so there are only two outcomes — Team A or Team B. Example: if Team A wins, you get back a return on a ৳500 stake according to the set odds.

Most popular

Toss Betting

Bet on which team will win the toss at the start of the match. The toss result has no connection to either team's skill, so it is a standalone market. Knowledge of pitch conditions or draws does not apply here.

Quick result

Top Batter

Bet on which batter in a specific team will score the most runs in an innings. Whether an opener or a middle-order batter — the market is chosen based on form and pitch conditions.

Player market

Total Runs Over/Under

Bet on whether the total runs in an innings or the whole match will be above (over) or below (under) a set line. Example: will total runs in a T20 exceed 160 — yes or no.

Runs-based

Multi Bet

You can combine several matches or markets into a single multi bet. Example: a ৳100 stake across three different matches with combined odds of 4.32 returns ৳432 — but only if every selection is correct.

Higher return possible

Handicap Betting

The stronger team is given a virtual run deficit to level the market. The weaker team's theoretical chances improve, but the outcome depends on the actual margin in the match.

Strategic market

A multi bet example

If three separate matches have decimal odds of 1.50, 1.60 and 1.80, the combined odds are 1.50 × 1.60 × 1.80 = 4.32 (approximately). A ৳100 stake returns ৳432 if all are correct. But if even one match is wrong, the full ৳100 is lost. Multi bets are for entertainment, but the risk is higher.

How to read odds — three formats side by side

At bet vasa, odds may be shown in three formats — decimal, fractional and American. Each is a different way of expressing the same probability.

Example 1 — odds on Team A winning, stake ৳500

Decimal 2.50 = Fractional 3/2 = American +150
If you win you get back ৳1,250 (৳750 profit + ৳500 stake). If you lose, ৳500 is gone.

Example 2 — Team B favourite, stake ৳500

Decimal 1.25 = Fractional 1/4 = American -400
American minus odds show how much you need to stake to win ৳100. A ৳500 stake returns ৳625 (profit ৳125).

The higher the decimal number, the greater the return — but higher odds mean the chance of winning is considered comparatively lower. Fractional and American formats express the same information in a different way.

In-match in-play betting — how odds change

Live betting gives cricket a whole new dimension. After the match starts, odds change with every ball and every wicket — bet vasa updates these changes in real time.

  • When a wicket falls — the batting team's run-scoring chances are seen as reduced, so their odds go up (they become less favoured).
  • After a big over — the batting team's target gets closer, so their odds come down (they become more favoured).
  • After the powerplay — odds are reassessed based on the middle-overs strategy.
  • In the final overs — markets move quickly depending on the run rate and wickets in hand.

In-play betting requires fast decisions. Live odds can be seen directly in the bet vasa App, making it easier to decide mid-match.

A few useful tips for cricket betting

Betting is for entertainment — but keeping a few things in mind makes the experience more comfortable.

1

Set a budget

Decide in advance how much you will spend on each match. If you lose more than expected, wait for the next match rather than going over your budget.

2

Choose markets based on the format

In T20, match winner and total runs markets move fast. In Test matches you can bet on session-by-session results. Understanding the format makes choosing a market easier.

3

Be careful with multi bets

Multi bets can return more, but if even one match is wrong you lose your full stake. Start multi bets with fewer selections.

4

Stay calm when watching live odds

Odds change quickly in live betting. Take your time and avoid placing a large stake on impulse.

5

Play responsibly

Betting is for fun, not as a source of income. To learn about responsible betting, read our responsible gaming page.

Things to remember in cricket betting

  • Decimal, fractional or American — all three formats give you the same information
  • Higher odds mean a higher potential return, but a lower chance of winning
  • In live betting, odds shift quickly after a wicket falls
  • In a multi bet, every selection must win
  • Betting is always for entertainment — for ages 21+ only

Cricket betting frequently asked questions

In T20 a match ends in just 20 overs, so markets shift fast and there is less time to decide in live betting. In ODI you can follow the full strategy over 50 overs, and mid-innings momentum matters. In Test cricket, pitch conditions, weather and fatigue play a big role across five days. Keeping the format in mind makes choosing a market easier.

Decimal odds of 1.25 means this is a heavy favourite market. If you stake ৳500 and win, you get back ৳625 — a profit of just ৳125. The same market is written as 1/4 in fractional format and -400 in American format. American minus odds show how much you need to stake to win ৳100.

When a wicket falls, it is assumed that the batting team's chances of scoring runs drop immediately. As a result, the odds on the batting team winning go up (they become less favoured) and the odds on the bowling team winning come down. The odds move the most when wickets fall quickly in the early overs or when a key batter gets out in the final overs.

The most commonly used markets in BPL and IPL are match winner, total runs over/under and top batter. In T20 format, the toss is also a popular market because some pitches give an advantage to the team that wins it. Live betting markets in these tournaments stay active from the powerplay through to the death overs.

In a multi bet the odds of several matches or markets are multiplied together, so the potential return is higher. But if any selection is wrong you lose your entire stake — one mistake is enough. Example: a ৳100 stake combining three decimal odds of 1.50, 1.60 and 1.80 gives combined odds of 4.32, and if all are correct you get back ৳432. Multi bets are for entertainment, but it is better to start with just two selections until you get used to it.
